It’s the 2013 Daytona 24-Hour this weekend. First practice starts later today so, to get us in the mood, here’s some lunchbreak video of a 997 GT3 Cup chasing a 993 GT2 Evo at the classic Florida circuit.
It’s 2008: a PCA race. The 997 GT3 Cup has the camera. Driver is Cory Friedman, a well known US Porsche racer who has finished on podiums partnering the likes of Leh Keen (Brumos) and Martin Ragginger (Falken Motorsport/Porsche Junior).
Watch the technique of the 997 driver versus the 993. Those turbos give the GT2 Evo (below) a shedload of grunt on the banking but, in the twisty infield, the Cup can get close. Fascinating video and a lot of energy going on here. That 993 GT2 Evo is still a handsome beast!
Who’s excited about Daytona?! Fingers crossed for a great Porsche result: we’re certainly sending enough guys. Nick Tandy tweeted he was through Orlando immigration earlier: would be great to see Nick kick some ass on his first works Porsche outing.
I’ll be blogging what I can: hangover permitting. Well, it is my birthday this weekend! Forgive me if I drop off the radar
