Our final video from the Porsche Motorsport Junior programme is the most fascinating. 2012 Junior winners, Michael Christensen and Klaus Bachler, take their first race start in Carrera Cup Deutschland, and finally experience the full weight of support that Porsche has made available for their success.
Porsche chairman, Matthias Müller opens the video, praising the entry level for the 2012 competition and the energy that has gone into finding these potential new talents.
Jonas Krauss, manager of the Supercup series, emphasises the nature of Carrera Cup races as sprint events. “The drivers must have their entire performance available from the first minute: this is the challenge. The aim is to teach them that skill – we want to see that development.”
Franz Konrad’s comments are the most thought provoking. “If we get the youngster in shape, next year he’ll be fostered by Porsche in the Supercup. I hope that he stays with us on our team, then he will surely be promoted to a works driver. Naturally, we would very much like to see him succeed – make it to the works team, and score victories.”
A few months later, Bachler scores his first podium (above, right). Now, it gets interesting. “Porsche Works Driver” is a heady title, but the works programme has limited space.
