Young racing drivers want to win. To maximise their shot at success, they need to test for and impress the best teams. Porsche Motorsport is a big blip on every hotshot’s radar. Excluding the Red Bull empire, no other company puts as much energy and effort as Porsche Motorsport into bringing on young drivers.
Every year, the Porsche Junior programme gathers the best young drivers from various formulas, and pits them head-to-head. The competition examines a range of abilities, regarded by Stuttgart as the backbone of a proper Porsche works driver and professional brand ambassador.
The 2012 Porsche Junior programme tested six up-and-coming youngsters, eventually selecting Michael Christensen (above) and Klaus Bachler to compete in the Porsche Mobil 1 Supercup and Porsche Carrera Cup Deutschland, driving the 911 GT3 Cup race car. Porsche Motorsport has released a series of videos detailing the intense selection process, and demonstrating the pressure the Juniors endured for their shot at this unique opportunity.
Over the next four days, Ferdinand will share the videos and examine the competition. Here’s a preview video to kick things off. See if you can spot what sets the winners apart: its not as simple as it looks!
