One very good thing about Patrick Dempsey’s trip to Le Mans this year is there’ll be a busload of media following him and the other Porsche cars around.
The Le Mans website reports how filming recently started at Le Mans: the first of a four-part documentary on Team Dempsey Racing-Proton’s 2013 24 Hour. Produced by Planet Grande Pictures in Malibu, “Road to Le Mans” will debut in Autumn this year.
The series will cover Patrick’s preparation for and participation in this year’s Le Mans 24. Understandably, the tale also recalls the passion of his actor/driver predecessors at La Sarthe, including Lords Newman and McQueen and the lesser mentioned James Garner.
The first bit of filming covered Patrick on the Bugatti Circuit: sadly not in a GT3, but on a bike. I’ve done track days at Le Mans on Bugatti in my own 911 and can tell you it’s awesome for Porsches – shame there is no leaked footage we can bring you as yet.
Patrick will drive Le Mans GT Am in the number 77 Porsche 911 GT3 RSR, alongside Joe Foster and Michael Avenatti. Dempsey Racing is also running a pair of GT3s in this year’s ALMS: one driven by Brumos hero Andrew Davis, Michael and Bob Faieta Avenatti, with the other carrying Dempsey, Joe Foster and Andy Lally. Should be fun! Keep it here for more.
