Our friends at Team Falken Tire in the USA have nabbed Porsche works driver Nick Tandy, to drive selected races alongside Bryan Sellers and Wolf Henzler in 2013.
First drive for Tandy will be at the Sebring season opener from March 13-16. “I intend to make the most of this honour,” said Nick. “Falken has enjoyed great results with its partnership with Porsche on both sides of the Atlantic and I hope to be able to contribute to even more development and success.”
“It is great to have Nick on board: a fellow countryman at that,” said Derrick Walker, Falken’s team manager. “With a wide range of experience working with Porsche, he’ll for sure be an asset to the Falken Motorsports program.”
“Nick will be a great contribution to Team Falken Tire,” agreed Bryan Sellers. “He was very successful last year in the RSR and will be able to bring a new perspective and outlook to our tyre development.”
Tandy is Falken’s second Porsche works driver, joining Stuttgart works legend, Wolf Henzler. “It’s great to have a Porsche factory driver as our third man for Sebring this year,” said Wolf. “Nick showed his speed in Open GT last year, and he is consistently quick in a Porsche. I’m sure he will fit in our team.”
Sebring hosts the ALMS Winter Test over February 7/8, allowing teams to run their cars before the famous 12 Hours in March. Falken will again run the 2012 Porsche GT3 RSR it took to victory in Baltimore, just a few months ago.
Will we see Tandy in the Falken Porsche at this year’s Nürburgring 24-Hour? Would be pretty cool. Exciting stuff – go Nick!
