Falken Tires ALMS sticks with Porsche for 2013

by on November 13, 2012

It’s been just a few weeks since Porsche announced the end of development for the 997 GT3 RSR race car, but Team Falken Tire has confirmed it will stick with its race-winning Porsche combination for the 2013 ALMS season.

With three GT victories over the last two seasons, Porsche factory driver Wolf Henzler and Falken factory pilot Bryan Sellers (above) will race for a third straight year with Derrick Walker/Walker Racing, and a Porsche 911 GT3 RSR.

“We are very happy to see the Falken Tire program continuing with the same elements for 2013,” said Jens Walther, President and CEO of Porsche Motorsport North America. “Wolf has been an integral part of the program for three years and with his professional, competitive and team spirit he is the perfect complement to Falken’s very professional program. We are proud that Team Falken Tire has requested his services again in 2013 for their Porsche 911 GT3 RSR.”

The combination brought two 2011 victories – Mid-Ohio & Baltimore – with a Baltimore repeat in 2012. A little bit of rain would help their 2013 campaign, as the relatively underpowered 911 does well in the wet. Let’s see how that works out.
